Consecration of Bishop Dr. Yassir Eric
RWANDA: Communio Messianica (CM) is pleased to announce the consecration of Bishop Dr. Yassir Eric on March 10th, 2024, at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kigali, Rwanda, officiated by Archbishop Dr. Laurent Mbanda, in the presence of the CM Ruling Council and Bishop Dr. Thomas Schirrmacher, the Secretary-General of the World Evangelical Alliance, of which CM is an affiliate member.
Later on, CM plans additional consecrations for some of its Ruling Council members. This initiative is part of CM's journey towards becoming an independent and self-governing church movement. Communio Messianica calls upon the whole body of Christ to support it in prayer.
Communio Messianica, “The Community of the Messiah”, is a global family of self-governing churches consisting of members primarily from a Muslim background who have been called into the faith of Jesus Christ, and thus receiving a new identity in Christ's Body, the Church.
Yassir Eric, born in Sudan with a muslim background, lived in Kenya and studied theology in Germany. He received an M.A. in Missiology at Columbia International University, an M.A. in Theology from University of Heidelberg, and received his doctoral degree in Theology from the Protestant University in Wuppertal, Germany. Yassir Eric is a professor at the Academy of World Mission of Columbia International University in Germany and serves as the Director of the European Institute for Migration, Integration, and Islam (EIMI).
